  • Maurice Weiss & Tobias Kruse · Exhibition in Berlin

Is it at all possible to capture the magic of a forest with something so technical as the photographic camera? What do photographers encounter when they walk into a forest that is symbolically charged. Or do artists think of something else than an accumulation of trees when they think of a forest? In the  exhibition "Wald" 84 photographers deal with these questions, among them OSTKREUZ photographers Maurice Weiss and Tobias Kruse.

  • Sibylle Bergemann · Exhibition in Berlin

RambaZamba is a special theater, the ensemble consists mainly of people with so-called mental retardation. For years, Sibylle Bergemann accompanied the actors in their rehearsals, shyly at first, then with a lot of empathy and a feeling for the special magic of their work.

An exhibition in Berlin now gathers the images of the resulting long-term study, well-known classics like the Woyzeck Series alongside unreleased photos, new prints as well as analog hand proofs and polaroid originals.

The world is our subject, on a large and on a small scale.
We lose ourselves in landscapes and in people, we love it loud and quiet.

  • Sabine Michel on Sibylle Bergemann

Both melancholic and funny, sensitive and incisive is the film „Take a picture“ that shows Sibylle Bergemann during her last days. In our interview, director Sabine Michel tells about her work with Sibylle Bergemann, her stamina and her sense of humor.

Anna-C. Hartmann: Do you recall your first contact with Sibylle Bergemann's images?

Sabine Michel: I became familiar with her work at a very young age. My parents were subscribed to the GDR women´s magazine Sibylle that often published images by Sibylle Bergemann. As a child I always cut out the pictures of the beautiful women. The name Sibylle Bergemann had already struck me then. I found it funny that the photographer had the same name as the magazine. Later, in Berlin, I came across her Polaroids that have, to this day, a particular appeal to me.
