UNEINS
by
Sibylle Fendt
This photographic work is about people, who feel „uneins“ („un-one, not one“; uneins could mean: not considering oneself to be a unit; to feel uneasy; to be undecided; to feel broken; to feel devided), for whom daily life is a struggle. Their daily struggle is reflected in their living conditions. It’s a project about so-called “messies“. People classed as „messies“ fail to create a sense of harmony between their inner self and the outside world, between inside and outside in general.
The topics raised by this project are loneliness, self-destructive tendencies, the role of society’s so-called failures, disease, addiction, the concept of humans as passive beings, the idea of escapism.
