Profile

Lea Greub
* 1998 – based in Berlin

Lea Greub is a documentary photographer based in Berlin and Tbilisi. Her work focuses on socio-political and queer-feminist issues, as well as European politics, with borders as a recurring central theme. Having grown up in Germany, she reflects critically on her own privileges, particularly in contrast to the realities at Europe’s external borders.

Alongside this, she documents everyday life and struggles for equality within queer communities, challenging patriarchal and heteronormative structures. Through her images and narratives, she amplifies queer-feminist perspectives and contributes to broader socio-political discourse.

Greub studied Media Design at the Münster School of Design and works across photography, video, audio, and text. In 2025, she graduated from the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin and subsequently spent six months as a photographer-in-residence at DIE ZEIT.

Her work has been exhibited internationally and presented at major photography institutions and festivals, including Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Photo Elysée (Lausanne), and Les Rencontres d’Arles. She is a recipient of the Gute Aussichten Nachwuchspreis, the TruePictures Award 2025, and the W. Eugene Smith Student Grant 2024, and was selected for the FUTURES Photography platform.
