For her work "Selfportrait with one breast and twins" Linn Schröder has been awarded the Zeitmagazin Fotopreis 2013 at the FotoDoks festival in Munich.
The Jury:
"The work that we want to honor this evening with the ZEITmagazin Fotopreis is based on an experience, but abstracts this to a metaphor that goes far beyond the personal. It is a work which looks back and reflects upon serious life events. It’s about life, death, fate but also about the future and change.
The work combines complex subjects. It is a work that, in an exhibition with various serial approaches needs only one single image. The autobiographical background of cancer, mastectomy and the birth of twins fused in this haunting single image with art historical references. In a contemporary portrait of the Madonna Linn Schröder draws a very personal boundary between life and death."

A Sunday-morning at the Academy of Arts: Flowers, Champagne and 18 awardees.

In a solo exhibition, Sibylle Fendt shows two of her most interesting works of the last two years. "Dear Mrs. K." documents the life as a tolerated refugee in Berlin, the uncertainty and ambiguity. In "Gärtners travels", Sibylle Fendt follows a husband and his wife, the latter of which had been diagnosed with dementia, during their last trip through Europe.
Sibylle Fend has taken up a teaching position for photography at the Fachhochschule Bielefeld.

Michael Haneke, Katharina Thalbach or Lars von Trier… So far, only individual people have been awarded the Konrad-Wolf-Preis. In 2013 though, for the first time, the prize by the Akademie der Künste goes to a group: Ostkreuz! We are particularly happy, because the award honors our efforts as a collective, by which have been produced e.g. our group exhibitions and which is crucial to the concept of our agency as well as to our self-perception. Or as the jury put it: "Ostkreuz is a place, where you can discuss the quality of pictures and talk about experiences like a colleague. And where the picture, that you produce of the world is always challenged."
