For three years, Joerg Brueggemann photographed metal fans around the globe. "Metalheads: The Global Brotherhood" is now being published in a special edition limited to 20 copies. The edition box includes the book signed by the artist, a print with the "80th Thrash Metal Fan", a Metalheads-Patch and a T-shirt with the Metalheadslogo, probably the smartest M that is curently around.

Linn Schröder at Deichtorhallen

Linn Schroeder has been awarded the European Photo Exhibition Award as one out of 12 photographers. The awardees worked on photo essays on European issues, which are shown in May at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg. Linn Schroeder will present her new series SOMEWHERE HERE. The work will then move to Paris in autumn 2012 (during Paris Photo), followed by Lucca in November 2012 (at Lucca Photo Fest) and finally Oslo in March 2013 (Nobel Peace Center). „European Photo Exhibition Award"

OSTKREUZ at the Darmstadt Days of Photography

Financial crisis and political upheavals, technological revolutions and increasing complexity of everyday life: everything is changing and there is no end in sight. Of course, this leaves traces in current photography and these are the theme of the 7th Darmstadt Days of Photography.
At the symposium, our office manager Betty Fink talks about the OSTKREUZ principles and how the agency deals with hard times. Julian Roeder gives a talk about his work and shows pictures of his SUMMITS at the main exhibition.

Sibylle Fendt · Gärtners' Voyage as a book

In the summer of 2008, Sibylle Fendt accompanied a trip through Europe, which represented a journey into unknown terrain in a twofold meaning. The series "Gärtners' Voyage" is now being published as a book by Kehrer Verlag.

Throughhout their common life they had traveled Europe with a caravan. In the summer of 2008 Lothar Gärtner decided to dare a last great journey with his wife Elke. Two years earlier, Elke had come down with Alzheimer's disease.
Sibylle Fendt photographed Lothar and Elke, first in their home before she accompanied the couple on their last trip from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to St. Petersburg. In restrained yet intimate photographs Sibylle Fendt describes the story of love, drifting apart and coming back together and of disappearance.

Joerg Brueggemann · Metalheads - book and exhibition

Heavy Metal fans now exist all over the world, but they are nowhere the same. For three years, Joerg Brueggemann traveled the world and photographed this globalized youth movement: long-haired northern Europeans with fur vests, head banging Egyptian girls in headscarves or Indonesian metalheads at underground concerts.
The Gestalten Verlag publishes the project as a book and shows selected images at its gallery. The books can now be ordered on OSTKREUZ Store.

Harald Hauswald underground

Between Hoenow and Alexanderplatz, on the Berlin underground line U5 a new train type is being tested. It has enlarged screens on which pictures by Harald Hauswald are shown hourly until the end of the month. The images give a preview of the paperback edition of Harald's book on Alexanderplatz which will be published this spring at the Jaron Verlag.

Julian Roeder's feature "Weapons for Arabia" is shortlisted for the Henri Nannen Preis 2012, the most important media award in Germany.
He photographed the biggest arms fair in the Middle East which took place while the Arabic liberation movements were in full swing.


Pepa Hristova at NRW-Forum Duesseldorf

"Photography, so it would seem, has at last arrived in the free arts." This observation was the starting point for a large exhibition that the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf put together with advisors such as Andreas Gursky, F.C. Gundlach and Klaus Biesenbach.
The impacts of the digital revolution, a shift in focus from reportage photography to explicitly artistic photography, an orientation towards new forms of presentation - the exhibition makers discern important changes in photo art. They selected 40 artists who are setting the trend for the development of photography, including OSTKREUZ member Pepa Hristova.

6000 visitors for OSTZEIT at the art museum Dieselkraftwerk, our group exhibition was last year's most successful exhibition in Cottbus.

OSTZEIT tells Stories from a vanished Country. Sibylle Bergemann, Ute and Werner Mahler and Harald Hauswald present their view on life, work and the people in the GDR.
The exhibition's next station will be Krakow.
