For 25 years, Maurice Weiss was everywhere, where you would have liked to have been later. Now he shows us the most important snapshots of his career as a photographer in a book, from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the Arab Spring.
He presents "Facing Time" in a traditional bookshop in Charlottenburg, in discussion with Matthias Harder.

What does "home" mean to people of a region that has experienced as many upheavels as Eastern Europe since the Second World War? An exhibition in Regensburg brings together works by 13 photographers who deal with transformation and and affiliation east of the Oder. Annette Hauschild shows pictures of her series "Hit the Road Jack", for which she visited Roma families in Kosovo, Hungary and Slovakia.

On 3 May Harald Hauswald celebrated his 60th birthday and the photo gallery Friedrichshain congratulates him with a large exhibition. The gallery, which was the first and most important East Berlin exhibition space for photography in GDR times, shows highlights from four decades of photographic work.

Art book publisher Hatje Cantz and Isabelle du Moulin, initiator of the Berlin Gallery District create a large Pop Up Showroom at Bikinihaus in Berlin-Charlottenburg with paintings, sculpture, photography and performance.
Gallery Weekend will be celebrated here. On Saturday Ute Mahler and Anna-Christina Hartmann discuss with Nadine Barth and Simon Menner on current trends in the photo book. Then there is a book signing with Anthony James and Katja Eichinger and a big party in the showroom.

Ute Mahler photographed the various ways in which people live together, everyday life and the most special moments in the GDR in the 1970s and 1980s. The series "Zusammenleben" (Living together) that she started 40 years ago will now be published as a book for the first time by Hatje Cantz.
We will celebrate, with pictures, music and talks at the Rote Salon, Volksbuehne Berlin. Jana Hoehl, as a child, one of the protagonists of the series, reads the introduction of the book by Sibylle Berg. The filmmaker Sabine Michel and Nadine Barth by Hatje Cantz speak with Ute Mahler about her work, the series "Zusammenleben" and the conditions of photography then and now.

For our "On Borders"-exhibition in 2012, Thomas Meyer portrayed the Bengali minority in Calcutta. People of different social classes, all of which come from the country that we call Bangladesh today. Now the images go back to where they originated. A gallery in Calcutta shows "Exile in Calcutta" in cooperation with the Goethe-Institute.

An OSTKREUZ photographer with a solo exhibition in Chad, this is a first. Maurice Weiss exhibits images from the turnaround and the reunited Germany in N'Djamena. Funded by the German Embassy and the Institut Francais he also travels through the country for three weeks realizing a new photography project.

From 1 - 31 March, the "International Image Festival" is held in Jordan, this year under the theme "together". The Foresight Gallery in Amman exhibits in this context Sibylle Fendt's work "Gaertners' Voyage". The pictures show a woman with dementia and her husband on their last trip through Europe.

Playtime" is a friendly title for an exhibition about work. The big show in Munich discusses the importance of work in our society and its echo in art. Julian Roeder shows images from his series Human Resources, in which the staff at trade fairs blurs with the illusory world of the market.

An exhibition in Frankfurt deals with images of masculinity in photography over the past 40 years. Pepa Hristova shows her Albanian "Sworn Virgins". Biologically, they are women, but they have taken over clothing, tasks and habits of men to fill the role of head of the family.

For twenty years now, the Wuestenrot Foundation has been awarding prizes to outstanding young documentary photographers, including several OSTKREUZ members. One of the most exciting contemporary themes is how our increasingly diverse society can form a harmonious unit. The Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden presents now a huge exhibition on the theme of migration and diversity, among others with pictures by Maurice Weiss and Julian Roeder. Our collective exhibition "On Borders" was already shown in Berlin and Dresden, now the Kulturforum Schorndorf presents a newly edited version. Seven OSTKREUZ photographers tell about the emergence of a new African state, the tolerated refugees in Berlin, the walls of Belfast and other visible and invisible borders.

Hijacked - is the name of a project that confronts Australian Photography with images of a host country.
Meanwhile, there is already a third edition, but Hijacked 2 with focus on Germany is still touring the galleries.
The German co-curators Ute Noll and Markus Schaden selected among others Joerg Brueggemann and Julian Röder for the exhibition. It is now on show in Stuttgart.
