Tomorrow, OSTKREUZ photographer Harald Hauswald will be guest at Goethe-Institute St. Petersburg. The event on the theme "dissidents" features the Hauswald documentary "Radfahrer" by Marc Thuemmler.

OSTKREUZ-photographer Julian Röder will be represented in pavlov´s dog first group exhibition. After the deliberately limited selection of exhibits in the photogallery´s previous shows, the walls will be closely hung this time. Over eighty international photographers show one work each, offering their view on the subject "Slippy floor. When things start to slip".

Our group exhibition "The City. Becoming and Decaying" travels further along. From 13 March to 19 June, it is displayed at the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg. On 1 July, the Goethe-Institute brings it to Munich for the Institute´s 60th Birthday-Celebrations and then takes it on a journey around the world.

In the next weeks, Leipzig will be a particularly rewarding destination for photography enthusiasts. Spread over three museums, the exhibition "Leipzig. Photography since 1839" will give evidence of the city´s rich photographic tradition. From early daguerreotypes through to East German "action photography" and contemporary works, 170 years of photography history will be shown.

In addition to our photographers Ute Mahler, Werner Mahler and Julian Röder, OSTKREUZ co-founders Thomas Sandberg, Jens Rötzsch, Harf Zimmermann and our friend Arno Fischer are represented in the exhibition.

The exhibition will be held from 27 February to 15 May 2011 at "GRASSI Museum für angewandte Kunst", "Museum der bildenden Künste" and "Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig". The opening will take place on 27 February 2011, 11.00 am at GRASSI Museum.

The documentary, "Zwischen Liebe und Zorn - Harald Hauswald, Fotograf"by Jörg Herrmann gives insight into Harald´s eventful life. It also deals intensively with his photographic approach and lets companions as Werner Mahler or Lutz Rathenow have their say.

The film is shown for the first time this coming Thursday, 02/24 at 20:15 at the Babylon-Cinema (Rosa-Luxemburg-Str. 30). Harald Hauswald and the director will be present at the premiere.

Julian Roeder takes part in a group exhibition including work by Rineke Dijkstra, Allan Sekula and Joel Sternfeld. He presents photos from his series "Love and Destruction" and "The Summits".
In the exhibition "ANGRY" protest, resistance and radical actions in our society are represented under three different aspects: by youth, by the media and through the interpretation of artists and photographers.

"During my stay in Seoul I used the opportunity to visit Sibylle's exhibition once again. It made me remember the opening of the retrospective in the Academy of Arts in Berlin. Although four years have passed and a lot has happened in the meantime, I clearly recall all of us sitting together at a big table in the hallway of the Academy. Back then nobody thought that one day the exhibition would be her photographic legacy and tour the world without her. Walking through the exhibition in Seoul, I realised that Sibylle will always remain present in her pictures."

According to the United Nations Grozny was the most destroyed city in the world. Meanwhile, a part of the city is rebuilt, but it is still far from working normally. With a grant of VG Bild-Kunst Heinrich Voelkel is documenting the architecture of the reconstruction and the wounds left by the war in the city and to the people.

From 04 - 14 November 2010 Julian Roeder will stay in Seoul for the G20 summit. There he will continue his long-term documentary project "The Summits". In this project, he photographs since 2001 the protests that take place at the edges of the security zones of state summits. www.julianroeder.com

In the collective exhibition "Art & Connection" shows Sibylle Fendt their work "No Sleep Before I Die". The images are to encourage different forms of compounds that surround us to reflect. In the collective exhibition "STRAIGHT FLUSH" Linn Schroeder shows her new work, "My little sister". "She is my sister and she has a knife. She says, in school it would be better ". This song line, probably the single hit from the group "Spektacoolär" goes through my head when I photograph my sister. (Linn Schroeder)
Because of an eating disorder and depression, the younger sister of the photographer was a long time in a rehabilitation clinic. At the weekly visits they always made a photo. The images were for the sister as a kind of mirror in which she found shocked at how sad she looks. Even after the time in rehabilitation, the sisters continued the series of portraits. It shows not only the portrait of the individual but also their relationship to each other. "STRAIGHT FLUSH"
